Thomas W. Merrill

Thomas W. Merrill is an assistant professor in the Department of Government at American University in Washington, D.C. He is the author of Hume and the Politics of Enlightenment (Cambridge, 2015)

He is the coeditor, along with Adam Schulman and Yuval Levin, of Apples of Gold in Pictures of Silver: Honoring the Work of Leon R. Kass (Lexington, 2010).

He was previously a research analyst at the President’s Council on Bioethics, and the coeditor, along with Adam Schulman and the late Edward Pellegrino, of the anthology Human Dignity and Bioethics (President’s Council on Bioethics, 2008).
